Everyday we all commute from home to office and most of us stuck in traffic every morning. Though we have google maps which shows busy/free routes as per the current traffic but that is not of a much help since all the important roads are kind of busy during all peak hours.

Solution
There is a
way by which can reduce some traffic congestion on peak hours. The prerequisite
for this is – it will work on everyday traffic routes and not on adhoc routes.
Steps, how we can achieve it–
1.
For
example a person goes from Home to Office every day as per below picture. He
reach on some points during the path at specific time range. At this time
interval, his mobile app (google maps) is sending his position to the cloud
server.
2. Once he is sending the position data everyday,
his profile can be created on the server where it will clearly defined ,
what time he starts, when he reach at different
points and when finally the guy reach office.(may be two months of position
data should be good for initial profiling)
3.
We also have data of google maps about the busy stretch
in the day
4.
With the user’s travel profiling and google’s
busy stretch algorithm we can identify that what was time frame when user was
in busy stretch.
5.
Similarly for all the users in that region, profiles will be created same way.
6.
Once we have all this data then we can say how
many cars are on a particular road stretch and that result in a busy traffic(red
line on google map)
7.
On the basic of this number, we can suggest all
the people in that region a start time (Travel
Token), say for time 7:05 AM – 20 people, 7:06 AM – 20 people, 7:08 – 30 people
etc
Note:
1.
This will not always be accurate but if 80% of
the traffic is daily commuters on a specific route, this will really be helpful
2.
It will always be in self learning mode where it
will be refining users path/time with more recent data
Share Drive: If we would be having
exact profiling of people in the regain. This app can suggest the probable car
pool options, which might be too accurate to match almost same start/end times
and paths.
Future :
1.
Travel token can be displayed somewhere on the
car and If government approve it, anyone driving as per its token, they may get
access to car pool lane or Gas rebate.
